CBSE Board Exam 2020 – Amid the COVID-19 pandemic situation there was uncertainty regarding the board examination of class 10th and class 12th students for the year 2020 of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). However, in its recent decision the CBSE has decided to cancel the board examination for both class 10th and 12th students for the year 2020. Earlier the board examinations were scheduled to be conducted from 1st of July to 15th of July 2020.
However, for the students of class 12th there will be an option to appear in the remaining papers later on when situation ameliorates. There will no such option for class 10th students.
Now as the board examination will not be conducted for the students of 10th and 12th, therefore, CBSE will assess the performance of the students of class 10th and 12th on the basis of performance/ scores of the students in the last three examinations. Thereafter, the CBSE will declare the result of 10th and 12th students by the mid of July 2020.

Regarding the cancellation of remaining board examinations of CBSE concerning the Corona Virus Disease or COVID -19 danger, there was a petition in the Hon’ble Supreme Court. However, the Board filed an affidavit before the Hon’ble Supreme Court mentioning the cancellation of the remaining board exams of the CBSE and providing option for class 12the students to take part in the remaining examination once the situation normalizes.
As for the class 12th students there is option to take the remaining examination later on, thus they have to inform their decision to CBSE later on whether to accept the performance evaluation done by CBSE on the basis of past three examination or to take part in remaining examinations.
Earlier the board examinations of class 10th and class 12th were going on in the month of March 2020 and a few examination have been conducted when due to looming danger of COVID-19 government enforced nation -wide lockdown and schools and colleges were also remained closed during lockdown, thus ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) announced deferred all the examinations. However, later on the remaining examinations were scheduled to be held during 1st July to 15th July 2020.
With the rising cases of COVID-19 all across the country it was not possible to conduct examination concerning the norms to be followed amid pandemic. The note was well taken by the Ministry, thus the remaining exams were postponed soon in March, 2020. However, later on with the re- scheduling of the remaining board exams of CBSE in the month of July 2020, petitions were filed before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India to cancel the remaining board examination of class 10th and class 12th of CBSE. Finally, the CBSE has decided to cancel the exams and to make evaluations based on the marks of previous three tests.
